Health Insurance Term
Deductible
The amount you pay yourself before the insurer starts paying.
What is Deductible?
A deductible is the portion of a claim you agree to bear before your insurer pays the rest. It's common in super top-up plans, where the insurer only pays above a chosen deductible.
A higher deductible lowers your premium, because you're taking on more of the small claims yourself.
Example
A super top-up with a ₹5 lakh deductible pays only for expenses above ₹5 lakh in a year.
